Infected Rain – Endorphin. Signed to Napalm Records and out tomorrow, this is a band I’ve not heard before this album. So I had no expectations for their album before taking it for a spin.
They started out strong with the intro of the first track “The Earth Mantra” that rip into strong female fronted vocals, that rage with strength and balance out with vulnerability. The track slows down about a third of the way through and keeps the tempo to the end as it fades away.
As the album progressed from track to track there was a blend of push and pull in vocals and instrumentals. Lots of blast beats, heavy bass, and raging vocals to please fans of this genre. I found myself almost placed into a trance as I listened to the album. There’s this blend of ethereal undertones in the music that will make you feel safe and comfortable just before it rips your soul out and slashes it.
To be honest on my first listen to the album I initially thought… It was ok, but wouldn’t actively search for it. But now I am more like… uh hello are you Tati’s long lost relative and how have I never heard of you before being around since 2008? So the first listen didn’t totally get me, but the second one… strap in and hold on because it completely grabbed me the second time around. Not as aggressive as Jinjer is, but even Jinjer wasn’t love at first listen with me either the first time.
Final thoughts on this one… ? go forth and get this one, listen twice if you don’t love it the first time because it will make sense the second time around.
