Last week we caught the Death Grips and Ministry at their sold-out co-headline show at the Showbox Sodo in Seattle. Fans were lined up in the cold and down the city block hours before the venue opened. One by one excited fans made their way into the venue and up towards the barrier until the venue was full. Being a sold-out show it was literally standing room only and fans were excited to see the show that was to come.

As the Death Grips took the stage, fans let out a loud cheer and the energy in the room shifted into a fully charged feeling for what was to come. The Death Grips came onto the stage in complete darkness with the only lighting being lights that were attached to their hands shooting out what appeared to be green laser beams. The three-piece experimental hip-hop, rap-rock, noise band from Sacramento, CA made up by Stefan Burnett, Andy Morin and Zach Hill, laid complete waste to the Seattle crowd in their hour-long set. Fans clearly enjoyed the show and could be seen and heard singing along with the Death Grips as the crowd was moving all over the venue floor. What a completely insane set!

Ministry hit the stage at 10:30 pm. To both sides of the stage, there were giant inflatable roosters with a no Nazi sign on their fronts and orange hair to represent Donald Trump. Everyone who knows Ministry knows they are anti-government and anti-establishment, so these stage props appeared to shock no one. The last member to make entry was vocalist Al Jourgensen. He walked onto the stage with a lit cigarette that he flicked off to the side of the stage then went straight into “Let’s Go.” The audience went straight into manic mode as one by one fans started surfing the crowd and coming over the barrier. Fans were singing along and completely losing themselves in the music. As their set progressed fans became more intense as songs “LiesLiesLies” and “N.W.O” were being performed.  At the end of the set the band performed “Gates of Steel” then DJ Swamp took to the stage for a bit of mixing and scratching that had flames shooting from the turntable and then one giant fire burst lit up the stage signaling the end of the show. What a way to end an energetic set!  Ministry put on a great live show!
