Little River Band Brings a Cool Change to Everett

Saturday evening was a rainy evening in the Seattle area but that didn’t stop the long time fans from showing up to see the legendary Little River Band perform at the Historic Everett Theater in Everett, WA.

Opening support for the evening were Seattle locals Medicine Hat.  This blues based rock group always puts on an enjoyable show.  I last caught these guys opening for Blue Oyster Cult in January.  Much like the the last time I had the pleasure to see them, the guys put on a fun and energetic show full of authentic blues rock.  Get out there and check out Medicine Hat.

Headlining for the night was Little River Band.  This is band I have followed since 1979 when I first heard “Lonesome Loser” come through my radio in smalltown in North Carolina, Elkin.  I distinctly remember instantly falling in love with that song, even as a child I knew the Little River Band would be part of my life from there on out.  Fast forward to Saturday night, 38 years later and my first chance to ever catch LRB live.  This was a moment that was in the making for way too long!  There are just some of those bands you HAVE to see live and when the timing never aligns to catch them and then suddenly it does, you have to be there.

LBR did not disappoint either!  As soon as the lights went out the stage was illuminated under blue lighting and one by one the band members came to the stage and kicked off the evening with “Long Way There”.  Fans on the lower level immediately jumped to their feet and rushed to the front of the stage with hands in the air.  The night was full of hit song after hit song and the venue was full of fan energy.  The fans knew the songs and sang along through out the night.

Vocalist, Wayne Nelson, briefly paused their set to take photos of the fans to post on their Facebook page while joking to the fans that they needed to hide if they weren’t supposed to be at the show or were there with someone they shouldn’t be with.   Back to the set, as LBR started playing “Lady”, one couple started dancing in the aisle as one fan on the upper level started waving a flaming lighter high above his head, something we don’t see much of anymore but was a staple during my teen years of concert going.  The encore and  last song for the night was the one that made me love the band, “Lonesome Loser”.  Most everyone in the venue was up on their feet singing along as the band closed the show out.  At the end of the show the guys shook hands and fist bumped with many of the fans by the stage.

Little River Band took time after the show to meet all the fans that stuck around to get autographs, wanted to say hi or grab a quick photo.  These guys clearly appreciate their fans and put on one heck of a great show!  The guys are on tour now and have a run taking them through November 2017.   Check out their dates below and make a point to catch them on the road.

Don’t forget, the band also has 6 disc box set releasing this week on May 5, 2017 of their work throughout the years that includes a dvd, plus an option to purchase a book written by Rhonda Nelson, Wayne Nelson‘s wife. The book, A Different Life, was written about the touring life from her perspective over the years while accompanying the band on tour. The box set and book can be purchased now via the Official Band Fan Club website: https://littleriverbandfanclub.com.
