Coheed and Cambria kicked of their Neverender GAIBSIV tour last night with The Dear Hunter at Seattle’s Showbox (at the Market).

The fans lined up early in a line that wrapped around the city block for this sold out show. Luckily for the fans, the Seattle weather held the rain back for the evening. There were waves of entry into the venue, 2 sets of vips then the doors opened to all ticket holders. I could feel a small sense of panic in the back of the line as 8:15 approached and the line, although much smaller, still crept around the corner of the block. Fans didn’t just come out for the headliners, they also came out for the openers The Dear Hunter who are western Washington natives.

The Dear Hunter took to the stage at 8:30pm kicking the show off with Regress from their 2016 release Act V: Hymns With The Devil In Confessional. In between songs fans were shouting to the band, one fan congratulated one of the guys on an addition to his family, other fans were simply shouting they loved them. Their set ran just under an hour and their setlist was impressive and covered many of their albums. The Dear Hunter performed songs from Act II: The Meaning Of, & All Things Regarding Ms. Leading (2007), The Color Sectrum (2011), Act IV: Rebirth In Reprise (2015), Act V: Hymns With The Devil In Confessional (2016). Fans heading out for this tour, make sure to get to the show early, you don’t want to miss The Dear Hunter.

Coheed and Cambria took to the stage at 9:40pm under darkness and fog. The stage backdrop was three giant LED screens that lit up with graphics as the band began to perform. Fans were immediately pressing up to the stage as they tried to get closer to the band. Coheed and Cambria started the show off with Keeping the Blade. Fans immediately started jumping up and down with excitement. By the second song of their set, Always and Never, the first fan had crowd surfed up and over the barrier, that set the pace for the rest of the evening as many more fans surfed their way over the barrier throughout the show.

Claudio Sanchez brought out his double neck Gibson and performed his signature over the head playing move that so many fans are always hoping to see live. At the same time Travis Stever (guitar) and Zach Cooper (bass) were moving all over the stage as they interacted with fans while Josh Eppard (drums) was playing and making faces at fans. You could see how much the band likes their fans just by watching the interactions throughout the show.

The setlist was long, which meant tons of great music. The show also had lots of great lights, video graphics and energy. Not to mention, this show is completely age friendly for even the youngest of fans. As then show came to an end, the guys wrapped it up with In Keeping. Then said goodnight to the fans.

As stated at the beginning, this was the opening night of the tour. Tonight the guys are in Portland, another sold out show! There are plenty of dates on this tour, check them out. This is a tour you do not want to miss so make sure to get your tickets as shows are selling out.
