For all the country music fans who love the traditional country music sound mixed with great vocals, I have found a new album you are going to want to add to your collection.  Shane Owens Where I’m Comin’ From, is surprising and delightful for those longing for a good ole country album.

From the beginning to the end you will find yourself appreciating the genuine country sound of this album.  I immediately heard influences of John Anderson, Randy Travis, Tracy Lawrence and Tracy Byrd on this album.  As a matter of fact I would even go as far to say that if you were able to clone bothTracy Lawrence and Tracy Byrd’s vocal stylings into one set of vocal chords, they would be in Shane Owens!  Growing up as a kid in the deep south, country music was part of the every day in our household and this album thrust me back into the days of artists where recognizable by their first names….  Conway, Merle, Ronnie, George, Charlie (Pride and Daniels folks)… then thrust me toward the 80’s country stylings with guys that still held onto the traditional country sound… Garth Brooks, Chris Ledoux, Keith Whitley, Mark Chesnutt and so on.

Each song on Where I’m Comin’ From will touch your country heart and keep you interested in what song is coming up next.  One thing that I truly enjoyed was the finger picking on this album, there’s not a ton of it and we don’t get a lot of that these days but when you hear it on this album, you instantly recognize it!  You will also get a good whining ballad with “Alcohol of Fame”, there are strong waining steel guitars and fiddles on this song that will inspire you to grab your loved one close and hit the dance floor or just dance around your house if thats where you are listening from.  Then you will get a good tempo’d dance song from “Chicken Truck”, a good old honky tonkin’ tune with lots of steel guitars, some fancy piano playing and some added vocals from John Anderson (yes, the same “Swingin” John Anderson).  The lyrics on this album are simple, truthful, country and relatable to the listener.  Do yourselves a favor and grab a copy of Shane Owens new album Where I’m Comin’ From, it’s got that good ole truthful country sound in today’s country music markets.
