Last Saturday evening the legendary rockers Blue Oyster Cult brought their show to the majestic Historic Everett Theatre to rock out the Seattle area fans.  The band had opening support from Seattle locals Medicine Hat.

Medicine Hat took to the stage at 7:00pm sharp and performed about an hour’s worth of rockin’ blues.  I had not seen this band before this performance so I was interested to hear them.  Their sound was very refreshing and holds an authentic blues rooted base to it.  They even incorporated some brass and a harmonica into their performance, something we don’t see a lot of around this area.  Bravo on the openers!  They sounded great and really warmed the crowd up for the evening.  You should check them out.

Onto the main event of the night, the one and only Blue Oyster Cult.  I grew up listening to these guys and have always enjoyed their music.  It’s been a backdrop to so many of my life memories, so of course I wasn’t about to miss this show.  I’ve only ever had the opportunity to see BÖC live a handful of times in my life, but each time has always been a great live show.  Even as the band has changed a few members throughout the years, this show was just added proof that great music lasts forever.

As Blue Oyster Cult took to the stage they went straight into the “Red & The Black” for the first song of the evening.  The fans immediately jumped to their feet and remained there for the night to rock out with the band.  I was thrilled to hear them switch up their setlist a bit with the addition of “OD’d on Life Itself” during this performance.  With as big as their music catalog is, you can never be totally sure what songs will make it into their performance, except of course “Burnin’ for You”, “Godzilla” and “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”.  As fan favorites, they stay heavily in rotation on their tours.  Another amazing show in the books for these guys!

If you missed the show, don’t worry!  Blue Oyster Cult will be back it the Seattle area on March 11, 2017 to perform at the Emerald Queen Casino.  So you get another chance this year to catch them, or if you were at the Everett show and want to see them again here’s your chance.  Don’t delay though, tickets are getting close to being sold out.
