Last Friday night Last In Line opened their tour at Studio 7 in Seattle, WA.  This masterful line up consisting of music greats Vivian Campbell (Dio, Whitesnake, Def Leppard), Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath), Andrew Freeman (Offspring, Raiding the Rock Vault), Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne, Vince Neil) and Erik Norlander (Asia) played to a packed crowd who where eager to get their first look at the band.

With such a limited tour, Seattle fans were thrilled to be able to catch this show and even more that it was the opening night of their current tour.  We didn’t just have fans from Seattle either, some fans came up from Portland and a few even flew down from Alaska to catch this amazing show.   A few lucky fans even managed to snag VIP tickets that included a signing session, photos and a private soundcheck with the band before the show started.  I was able to sit in on the soundcheck and preview what the band had in store for the evening, lots of great music!

There were 3 locals support bands that opened the show.  Severhead, Iron Dragon and Mechanism.   All 3 bands played killer sets and had the crowd ready for the main act of the night, Last In Line.  This was no ordinary night either.  Last In Line hit the stage around 10:30pm and rocked the crowd hard!  They played many of the DIO hit songs that had the fans singing along and played songs from their newly released album “Heavy Crown”.  The band interacted with the fans throughout their set, during and in between the songs.  Andrew Freeman repeatedly held the mic out into the crowd and had them all singing along with him to the DIO hits.

The members of Last In Line all have had amazing musical careers prior to forming this current project.  Fans all knew each of these artists from their earlier careers so it made the crowd more intense than we usually see in Seattle.  I am sure some of the intensity stemmed from the respect and passion for their other musical endeavors.  Then add to that the amazing album, “Heavy Crown”, that Last In Line currently has out and it was the perfect intensity magnifier.

I had a choice between this show and a another major show the same night and I chose this one without hesitation.  If there’s a tour you need to catch, hands down, it is this one!  The other bands out there tour all the time, chances are you will will see them on tour next year.  As for this band, because these guys have other projects going on they won’t tour as often here in the states.  So get out here and see them now, no telling when you will get another chance!

The band has 3 more USA dates left before they head overseas for a more extensive European tour.  If you can get to one of these shows, I highly recommend it.

October 28: Sacramento, California-The Boardwalk, 7pm
October 29: Reno, Nevada-Rock Bar
October 30: Las Vegas, Nevada-Vamp’d
